Sometime earlier in this year 2025 I did some activity which caused me significant pain and discomfort in my neck and the upper left quadrant of my back. It felt like a rod was tightly wedged from my neck diagonally downward to my left shoulder blade. This caused me to have a chronic pain when doing many activities and especially when sleeping, being quite uncomfortable when I moved my back and arms during sleep. I suffered through this chronic pain for several months, hoping that it would eventually go away, but it didn’t. This is when I decided that I needed some physical therapy and I decided on Madden and Gilbert PT in Shrewsbury, as my wife had had been there several times previously for therapy and had recommended them. On my first visit I met with Matt Conroy, the Clinical Director at Madden & Gilbert, to perform an initial assessment of my condition. Matt determined that I had severe tightness in the muscles in my upper left back and around my neck. My ability to turn my head and neck to the left had diminished to 30% capability. So M&D began a physical therapy program with me with the aim to loosen up the tight muscles in my back and improve my capability to turn my head and neck more freely in a leftward direction. The program that was utilized included 2-3 physical therapy sessions each week at the M&D facility in Shrewsbury, PA. The therapy sessions included a graduated program of learning new exercises (15 in total) and doing them so that I could loosen up my back muscles and free up the impeded movement on my left side. Other therapy used was traction and back manipulation by the M&D therapists who were working with me. I had about 2 months of these therapy sessions in total. Besides the onsite therapy, I was provided with instruction cards describing the essential exercises that I needed to perform for improvement of my condition. I could then do them on my own offsite at home between therapy sessions. It took 2-3 weeks on the program until I was able to notice that my serious chronic pain was mostly gone. With the pain diminished, I continued with the therapy and exercises for another month to further loosen the muscle stiffness and improve my freedom of movement on my left side. Many thanks to Matt, Peter, Autumn and the other therapy assistants for their help and support during these weeks of physical therapy at Madden and Gilbert. My therapy period has just ended with a great improvement in my condition. My chronic pain has disappeared, my back feels much better and my ability to turn my head and neck leftward was measured to be at 70% now, a big improvement from the 30% when I started my therapy. My sleeping is also very much improved. So I’m very pleased with the outcome of my physical therapy at Madden and Gilbert. Continuing with the exercises the staff has provided to me, I should be able to make further improvement with my back and neck. Many thanks to the Madden and Gilbert Shrewsbury Office staff for a very good experience. Don Goulden from Shrewsbury

I started sessions at Madden and Gilbert for postpartum recovery, specifically for pelvic floor strength and diastasis recti. I have been extremely happy with the services provided, and have seen drastic improvements in the short time I've been attending. Veronica and Jenny are top-notch at what they do- providing endless knowledge, adaptability, and encouragement. Both are charismatic and welcoming, and have made me feel very comfortable with each session. I love that I have a booklet of the exercises to work on at home, so my progress is not limited to in-office attendance. I would recommend them to anyone and would come back for anything else in the future!

Madden Therapy has a great staff. Each team is wonderful. They make you feel welcomed and really focus on your needs to heal. I have been there for 2 different things through the years. I had a horrible shoulder and neck issue and they helped me gain strength and movement. This was right at covid time and I am still going strong. I used their exercises still when I get sore. Thanks to their cards. Recently I was there for back and sciatica pain. They worked with me to become stronger in my core and legs and help relieve the pressure. They tried so many things but unfortunately I had a herniated disc that was pushing on my nerve too much and needed surgery. They did help me find the right doctor to evaluate me and I appreciate it. Not only have they helped me but they helped my daughter. She had a torn ligament in her ankle and after being in a boot for 6weeks to heal. they helped her become stronger, have better balance and get ready for soccer. She has no more pain. it is awesome. they even were able to diagnose that she had something else wrong after being injured again on the top of her foot. They really work with you. Having a team to work with you is great. Thank you for all your help.

After right total knee replacement surgery, I chose Madden and Gilbert physical therapy in Shrewsbury for recovery. I had Veronica, Peter, and Jenny as my team. They were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging, and I needed a lot of that encouragement! They didn't make me feel like a number. I'm praying I won't need the other knee done, but if that comes to pass, I'll come back to Madden and Gilbert for their expertise.
